CITY OF EASTON - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

EASTON CAN TRACE ITS RICH HISTORY BACK TO 1736...

when Thomas Penn, son of William Penn, along with Benjamin Eastburn, selected and surveyed the "Thousand Acre Tract" of land at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. In the 1750s, the City of Easton was born and on July 8, 1776, the Great Square, (now know as Centre Square) was the site of one of only three readings of the Declaration of Independence.

Located in Northampton County, more than 200 businesses have emerged in the downtown area in the past few years. Home to Two River's Landing, the Crayola FACTORY, National Canal Museum and the Heritage Corridor Visitors Center, Easton says "welcome" to more than 300,000 visitors annually. While tourism is a major component of the city's renaissance, specialty retail and visitor-oriented services are on the rise and Easton's distinctive historic buildings offer expanding opportunities for store and upper-floor enterprises.
