Welcome from the Director
On April 1, 2004 Governor Ed Rendell signed into law the Economic Stimulus Package creating, the Keystone Innovation Zone Program. The Southside Bethlehem KIZ was officially approved as a zone on May 27, 2004.
Keystone Innovation Zones (KIZs) are designated areas that are home to institutions of higher education including community colleges and associate degree technical schools. By gathering the combined resources of our schools, private businesses, banks and economic development agencies, partnerships are created that provide resources to assist entrepreneurs and early stage businesses and to create a "knowledge neighborhood".
As one of the first zones approved in the commonwealth, we have always been particularly mindful of the mission of the KIZ program and have implemented programs that we feel meet those needs. This website will give you information about some of our specific programs and the advantages of locating inside our zone.
Of course our zone would not be as successful as it is without the participation of all of our partners.
For more information about our various programs, I urge you to explore this web site and contact me at 610.266.7535 or smelnick@lehighvalley.org.
Sincerely,
Stephen Melnick Project Director
